- Cellular biological study of drug-induced gingival enlargement
- Drug-induced gingival enlargement secondary to organ transpla-ntation has increased recently in Taiwan. Currently, my lab is collecting clinical cases, growing cells in culture from surgical biopsy specimens. Analysis of the growth curve, DNA synthesis, protein metabolism, tissue remodeling mechanism involving the role of metaloproteinases and their inhibitors from each isolated cell lines are also undertaken.
- Role of interleukin in the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases
- Interleukin has been implicated as a preinflammatory mediator, which is one of the most potent inducer of bone resorption and soft tisue resolution. The concentration of interleukin-1b in inflammed periodontal tissues, localization of types of cells producing 1L-1B and their presence with the severity of overt periodontitis are currently investigated.
